MCAD: the Gathering

MCAD: the Gathering is a strategy art school trading card game designed in celebration of the Minneapolis College of Art and Design’s 125th anniversary. The game features MCAD-specific faculty, places and art school related spells that players use to defeat their opponent.
Inspired by Magic: the Gathering, the game was created by Taylor Baldry and produced by Brian Gioielli, members of MCAD’s Alumni Board of Directors. Original artwork for the game was submitted by MCAD students and alumni and the cards were designed by MCAD’s in-house design agency, DesignWorks.
The cards was given away to attendees of MCAD’s all-class reunion and the game will be sold exclusively at MCAD’s non-profit art store, the Art Cellar. In the future, cards will likely be used to promote MCAD show openings and also given to prospective students. As the game continues to expand and evolve, new faculty, places and spell cards will be added, making MCAD: the Gathering a living part of MCAD’s culture.
