The Conversationalist

The Conversationalist is an ongoing performance art piece/social experiment that asks guests to select a subject from a topics menu (or suggest their own) as a means of promoting face to face conversation in the digital age.
As users of social media, we have become consumed with one-sided, broadcast conversations that we have weakened our analog social skills that allows us to converse with friends and strangers alike. The Conversationalist helps to remind people what it is like to have a real conversation with someone without the aid of social media and technology.
The project has been featured in the Twin Cities’ Star Tribune, Minnesota Public Radio and various blogs. The Conversationalist appears at the Walker Art Museum and at Lake Calhoun on weekends (during the summer).
